ARTIST FEATURE: HIROMI from HONG KONG & her Travels!

Hi all! It's been a long time since my previous post! Gosh has it been a year already? Well over the past year I have gone to a few destinations but have not gone to writing them down. So to make it up to you, I would like to present a Travel interview I did recently with Hong Kong artist Wada Hiromi who came down to Kuala Lumpur for her pre-wedding photo-shoot.

Enjoy,

THE INTERVIEW

Two weeks ago, I had the exclusive opportunity to meeting and interviewing the lovely Wada Hiromi, a rising Hong Kong artist who has come down for a special visit to Malaysia for her pre-wedding photoshoot by The Queen by Korea Artiz Studio.

Meeting her as her natural relaxed self, she portraited her cheerful, bubbly yet a very down-to-earth sside which was soothing and comfortable to be in company with. In the midst of her otherwise tight schedule, I managed to score a dinner with her and her charming fiance to talk about her travel life as an artist.

Venue: The Royal Bintang @ The Curve
Date: 5th of November 2013

Trius: First and foremost, Welcome Wada Hiromi to Malaysia.

Hiromi: Thank you!

Trius: So, What brings you to Malaysia?

Hiromi: Mainly to do my pre-wedding photos at The Queen. And to do a little bit of publicity of myself to the Malaysian audience.

Trius: Have you been to Malaysia before?

Hiromi: Yes I have, together with my church organisation to give my testimony.

Trius: How often do you travel and was it for work purposes or leisure?

Hiromi: I don't really have time to travel for leisure, but if i do it's either for work or for church. I do of travel shows and I have been to Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Israel and Malaysia!

Trius: On that note, What is your first impression of Malaysia?

Hiromi: Haha! The food! Its cheap, good food!

Trius: You're excited!

Hiromi: Yes! I'm mesmerised by the taste of Malaysian food!

Trius: What's your favourite Malaysian food?

Hiromi: Mmm, Bak Kut Teh and Durian! I ate so many yesterday!

Trius: Wow, is that your first time eating durian?

Hiromi: No, I love it! It was the first on my list when I arrived.

Trius: In comparison what do you like eating in Hong Kong?

Hiromi: In Hong Kong, when you want to find good food its not easy, Really good food in Hong Kong are French Cuisines, and cuisines by private cooks, but one of my favourite is the Egg Tart. I also like Red bean Sugar cakes, steamed milk pudding.

Trius: Oh I should try those when i go visit. What do you look for in a destination?

Hiromi: The first thing I look for in a destination? It has to be romantic! I don't know why but I also like to spend time in supermarkets.

Trius: Supermarkets are romantic?

Hiromi: Haha! I mean I like walking around in huge supermarkets. Cause supermarkets in Hong Kong are comparatively smaller. Places like Canada has huge supermarkets.

Trius: Do you consider yourself a beach person, mountain scenic person or city person?

Hiromi: Beach, cause its romantic. I like the relaxing atmosphere, Hong Kong really busy.

Trius: Do you have a favourite beach?

Hiromi: There's a beach in a rural part of Japan. They have a lot of pigeons, and they sell bread to feed the pigeons. When you feed them, a whole lot of them come at you, its really fun!

Trius: Do you travel to Japan often?

Hiromi: Only for work.

Trius: Have you shopped in Malaysia before?

Hiromi: Yes! For food. Shopping here is relatively cheaper so I get what I want without much thought. Bought a few shirts and food, in Melaka too!

Trius: You like Jonker Street?

Hiromi: Yes! I like the atmosphere of the place, very nostalgic.

Trius: What is your impression of the Malaysian people?

Hiromi: The people are really nice. They give good service, you guys are really nice to me too. I'm on a holiday mood so feel really relaxed and nice around people here.

Trius: What is your most inspiring travel experience?

Hiromi: My travel to Israel. When I read the bible it relates to places in Israel saying that Jesus has walked here or there especially when Jesus carried the cross. When you read the bible its a far away place. But being there, one can experience it first hand and it gives a bigger perspective of my faith as a christian.

Trius: For your information, Malaysians are not allowed to travel to Israel.

Hiromi: Really?? I didn't know that!

Trius: Yes, its true. So for all your Malaysian fans out there who can't go there, what is Israel like?

Hiromi: Its a place that is full of history and culture. Walking along the streets, it feels different. There are men with hats and curly side burns from the Jewish community , and on the Sabbath, they are not allowed to cook or labour. On Sundays too. I couldn't even buy ice-cream. The Arabian community however were able to do work though.

Unfortunately, I am not really a fan of the food there. Because its a little to dry for my liking, regardless of pork, beef or chicken. This is because they cannot eat meat with blood, so it has to be dry.

Trius: What has traveling taught you?

Hiromi: Different cultures has its own different specialities. It open my eyes to a lot of things. Back in Hong Kong when you go about your everyday lives, it becomes a mundane thing. But when you go outside, it feels like life has so much more things that are worth living for.

Trius: What does it feel like to travel as a celebrity?

Hiromi: In Hong Kong as an artist, one have to be careful about what you do cause you are always watched and people know who you are. But traveling out, I feel much more relaxed. On the contrary, while traveling if someone comes up to me and says that they know who I am, I feel really happy.

As a celebrity, to go out of the country is it feels like the best thing in the world. Thats why some of us have their weddings outside the country.

Trius: One last question, What would be your travel advice that you would like to give to all your fans out there?

Hiromi: Rule No.1: Don't bring so many things. I like adventure travels, girls usually bring a lot of cosmetics on their travels, don't. I love backpacking.

Trius: Oh have you been backpacking?

Hiromi: No, but i will be going to Australia for one year to backpack. I want to try to do everything myself and go around Australia. It will be a working holiday!

Trius: Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to interview you in the light of travel. And Best wishes to your career and future travel endeavours.

Hiromi: Thank you! It's been a pleasure!
